About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Power System Study Engineer to join our team at AtkinsRéalis. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for defining the scope and budget for power system studies mandates, performing and reviewing various power system studies, and preparing detailed engineering drawings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Define the scope and budget for power system studies mandates.
  2. Perform/review the following Power systems studies:
    1. Substation grounding & lightning studies.
    2. Substation Bus studies.
    3. Electromagnetic Transient Studies.
    4. AC interference on pipelines and railway infrastructure from power lines and substation ground grids.
    5. Cable Sizing Studies.
  3. Prepare detailed engineering drawings.
  4. Utilize software tools such as CDEGS, ETAP, WinIGS, CYMCAP, ASPEN OneLiner, and PSCAD to perform studies and analyze data.
  5. Collaborate with other disciplines to plan, schedule, estimate, and coordinate engineering activities.
  6. Represent the system studies discipline at design review and constructability meetings with customers.
  7. Mentor junior resources in the use of power system software modeling and conducting studies.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  1. 8+ years of experience in substation design and power system studies.
  2. A university degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent discipline.
  3. Registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with EGBA or APEGA.
  4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  5. SES Tech CDEGS Level II or III certification is an asset.
  6. Working knowledge in AutoCAD, MicroStation, PSS/E, PowerFactory DigSILENT is an asset.
  7. Hands-on experience with soil resistivity, ground impedance measurements, and power quality measurements is an asset.

Expected compensation for this role is between $93,400 - $141,200 annually. Base salaries are determined according to several parameters like skills, experience, and potential impact on the role. Internal and external competitiveness are also taken into account in our offers.
