Electrical Engineer Job Description

Spark Power is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and leading electrical engineering projects from early stages to detailed engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform power system studies using SKM, EasyPower, or ETAP, including short-circuit analysis, protective device coordination, arc flash studies, load flow, and harmonics studies.
  • Develop electrical engineering packages for construction projects in the utilities, large commercial, and industrial sectors.
  • Collaborate with clients, sales teams, and managers to answer technical questions and create proposed solutions.
  • Design and analyze ground grid systems for new construction or substation upgrade projects.
  • Develop protection philosophies and protection system schemes and designs.
  • Interface with clients, owners, consultants, and construction crews, requiring strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Work independently under general direction and progress to carry out non-routine tasks of substantial variety and complexity.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of direct electrical power distribution design and engineering experience, preferably in industrial facilities.
  • P.Eng. designation is considered an asset.
  • Experience in renewable, industrial, and commercial facilities.
  • Working experience designing, developing, and leading different phases of engineering projects.
  • Proficient in various electrical calculations and software, including SKM, EasyPower, CYMCAP, CYMGrd, ETAP, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of computer-aided design software, such as AutoCAD or MicroStation.
