Electrical Engineer Job Description

Spark Power is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to join our team. As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and stamping electrical engineering packages for construction projects in the utilities, large commercial, and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform power system studies using EasyPower or ETAP, including Short-Circuit Analysis, Protective Device Coordination, Arc Flash Studies, Load Flow, and Harmonics studies.
  • Provide arc flash hazard mitigation recommendations to improve equipment and personnel safety.
  • Design and analyze Ground Grid Systems for new construction or substation upgrade projects.
  • Develop protection philosophies and protection system schemes and designs.
  • Interface with clients, owners, consultants, and construction crews, requiring strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Work independently under general direction and progress to carry out non-routine tasks of substantial variety and complexity.
  • Have a sound understanding of related electrical principles and practices.
  • Be responsible for analysis, decisions, and recommendations needed in connection with technical problem-solving.
  • Promote quality service to ensure employee, customer, and supplier satisfaction.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of direct Electrical Power Distribution design and engineering experience, industrial facilities preferred.
  • Proficient in various electrical calculations, including Voltage Drop, Cable Sizing/Ampacities, Basic Short Circuit Calcs, Grounding Design, Equipment Sizing Ratings, and Equipment Specification.
  • Proficient in various electrical software, including CYMCAP, CYMGrd, ETAP, or equivalent.
  • Working experience with Drawing Mark-ups and Computer Aided Design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of industry-specific codes and Standards (OESC, IEEE, and NETA).
