Electrical Testing Team Lead

About the Role:

Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Manager – Electrical Testing to join its Quebec City factory team. As a key member of the quality assurance team, you will be responsible for planning and coordinating electrical and mechanical tests for transformer production, ensuring the safety of the testing area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and coordinate special tests according to established protocols.
  • Coordinate factory acceptance tests (FAT tests) for customer approvals.
  • Work closely with production supervisors to ensure production requirements, special tests, training, calibration, and continuous improvement are met.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance supervisor to plan corrective and preventive maintenance in the test area.
  • Identify electrical risks in the testing area and propose solutions to mitigate them.
  • Ensure compliance with test safety requirements according to company standards.
  • Produce reports for clients.
  • Lead and follow up on actions required during test equipment breakdowns.
  • Plan training and act as a trainer for quality assurance technicians.
  • Share expertise and advise quality assurance technicians during investigations of customer returns or test failures.
  • Conduct audits in the testing area.
  • Update and maintain work procedures.
  • Participate in defining current and future investment needs in the testing area.
  • Contribute to the development of requirements and implementation of projects.

Requirements:

  • Hold a DEC in electrical, electrotechnical, electromechanical engineering, or industrial electronics technology, or a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Mastery of the MS Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of a Lean system, an asset.
  • Advanced French and English (comprehension, spoken, and written).
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and collaborate.
  • Ability to demonstrate rigor, resourcefulness, and determination.
  • Excellent ability to organize and multitask.
