Adamson and AAI is looking for a skilled Specifications Writer to develop comprehensive project manuals for a diverse range of intricate architectural endeavors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Crafting detailed technical documents, including specifications and contract materials, for integration into Project Manuals across various complex building types such as commercial, healthcare, and civic projects.
  • Analyzing architectural and engineering documents, assisting Project Managers in sourcing project-specific information from contract materials.
  • Supervising the creation of Project Manuals in collaboration with the project team.
  • Conducting quality control reviews of contract documents produced by both internal and external specification sources.
  • Mentoring Junior and Intermediate specification writers.
  • Providing education to staff on specifications, keynoting, technical material information, and Project Manuals, while also assisting in the dissemination of educational bulletins regarding new materials and technologies.
  • Collaborating effectively with Project Managers, Team Leads, Architects, Engineers, and Designers.
  • Ensuring timely completion of tasks in accordance with project deadlines.
  • Contributing to the continuous enhancement of office master specifications.
  • Coordinating the scheduling and production of Project Manuals to ensure timely deliverables.
  • Working alongside project teams, specification team members, document control, and IT staff to facilitate seamless information transfer and accurate document development.
  • Conducting technical research on innovative building technologies and materials.
  • Serving as a resource for technical inquiries, detail reviews, submittal evaluations, and material selections.
  • Maintaining technical documentation, including codes, standards, and technical literature.
  • Overseeing the upkeep of information databases.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years in the architectural field, with at least 5 years of experience in North America.
  • 5+ years of focused specification writing for various building types.
  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or a Diploma in Architectural Technology.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Registered Specification Writer (RSW) or Certified Specification Practitioner (CSP).
  • Active membership in Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
  • Certified Construction Specifier (CCS).
  • Active membership in Construction Specifications Institute (CSI).
  • LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP).

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in advanced Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD and Revit is an asset.
