MacEwan University is in search of dedicated Residential Life Managers for two full-time continuing positions within our Residence Life Department. Reporting to the Supervisor of Residence Life, your primary responsibilities will include the development, administration, and promotion of residence life while ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents.

Your role will involve creating avenues for student development and implementing programs that foster personal and community growth among residents. You will provide operational support to the Residence Life Supervisor, coordinate resident development and wellness initiatives, and oversee the daily activities and mentorship of Resident Assistants (RAs). Your contributions will be vital in upholding the Residence Community Standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the assigned team of RAs and Senior RAs (SRAs), ensuring workload distribution and adherence to Residence standard procedures;
  • Prepare schedules for Supervisor approval and arrange shift coverage as needed, including managing last-minute changes;
  • Act as a point of contact for RAs and SRAs, addressing issues and escalating matters to the Supervisor when necessary;
  • Propose enhancements to the Residence Community Standards and other departmental documents for Supervisor review;
  • Develop, implement, maintain, and assess a comprehensive wellness program for the MacEwan Residence community in collaboration with other Residence Life Managers;
  • Assist in creating an annual plan, including budgeting, for educational, recreational, social, and cultural programs for the Residence community.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Basic budgeting and accounting knowledge.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of a diploma in a relevant field;
  • At least one year of experience in Residence Services;
  • Familiarity with resident and property management platforms (e.g., StarRez) is advantageous;
  • Current certification in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) through the Canadian Mental Health Association is preferred;
  • Prior experience in event planning is beneficial;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, and SharePoint;
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Position Requirements:

  • A Security Clearance Check will be conducted as a condition of employment;
  • The work schedule is Monday to Friday, with staggered shifts to ensure full operational coverage;
  • The incumbent will share on-call responsibilities for emergency after-hours coverage;
  • Availability during move-in/out weekends, Open House, and other special events is required;
  • On-call coverage during the December break is also expected;
  • This position is subject to an overtime averaging agreement.
