Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Relief Residential Program Facilitator. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing support and guidance to our clients, helping them to achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Client Support: Provide emotional support and guidance to clients, helping them to navigate challenges and achieve their goals.
  • Record Keeping: Accurately record day-to-day activities and maintain logbooks and occurrence reports.
  • Life Skills Training: Provide training and education on life skills such as personal hygiene, mental and physical health, communication, and anger management.
  • Client Advocacy: Act as a client advocate, providing support and guidance to help clients navigate complex systems and access resources.
  • Communication: Liaise with referral sources, external agencies, and other stakeholders as needed.
  • Client Care: Coordinate client care relating to security issues, perform bed checks, and room/personal searches.
  • Admission and Discharge: Handle admission, orientation, evaluation of clients' understanding of rules, and discharge procedures.
  • Financial Management: Manage finances related to room rentals and meal tickets.
  • Administrative Support: Answer the program department telephone and record/remits messages.
Working Conditions

This is a casual position with no guaranteed hours. Flexibility in scheduling is required, and the work schedule is determined in consultation with your supervisor.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • A minimum of two years of post-secondary education in a related field.
  • WHMIS training.
  • Current Certification in First Aid/CPR.
  • Non-violent crisis intervention training.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge
  • One year but less than three years of prior related experience, including frontline work in a social service setting.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully.
  • Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada.
