Pastry Cook Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Pastry Cook to join our team at Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre. As a Pastry Cook, you will be responsible for preparing all aspects of pastry production for banquets and outlets throughout the hotel, according to hotel standards and sanitation practices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare pastry production for banquets and outlets, adhering to hotel standards and sanitation practices.
  • Prepare food items for customers using a quality predetermined method in a timely and consistent manner with the minimum of wastage possible.
  • Regular attendance and adherence to established standards are essential to the successful performance of this position.
  • Due to the cyclical nature of the industry, employees may be required to work varying shifts due to the needs of the business within the hotel.
  • Attend all meetings, training sessions, and meetings required.
  • Perform daily cleaning and inventory of walk-in, storage, and refrigerators for stock rotation and cleanliness.
  • Ensure all equipment in the work area is properly cleaned and report any equipment in need of repair to the Chef.
  • Perform other duties as necessary and assigned, such as VIP parties and special orders.
Requirements:
  • Red Seal or comparable certification is highly recommended.
  • Qualified through a minimum of six months Pastry Arts Course.
  • A minimum of five years of pastry and baking experience is required.
  • Food Safe Level 1 is required.
  • Must be available to start work as early as 4 am.
  • High school or equivalent education is required.
  • Ability to obtain and/or maintain any provincial and federal license Certificates or permits.
