Job Title: Plant Manager: Initiating Systems

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the automated electronic and shock tube detonator assembly plants. This includes managing the assembly process, quality control, and validation actions related to assembly.

Leading the production staff and maintenance activities, the Plant Manager ensures the daily management and coordination of plant operations, including production, maintenance, and quality control. This role requires ensuring compliance with all labour, safety, environmental, and corporate policies and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement strategies to achieve Zero Harm through behavioural based safety (Safety Leadership)
  • Align activities and resources within the value stream, ensuring cross-organization collaboration and associate involvement
  • Improve plant productivity, material productivity, and people productivity
  • Manage costs, ensuring cost efficiency of every operation by actively managing daily costs, overtime, wastage, and efficiency
  • Ensure adherence to sound HSE principles, including compliance with Regulatory requirements
  • Develop and maintain management systems based on ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001, and international safety standards
  • Work closely with quality control personnel to review product consistency and monitor scrap rates
  • Monitor production expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining safety and quality standards
  • Develop and maintain a superior safety and housekeeping program
  • Control, track, and review performance against objectives, KPIs, production, and safety targets
  • Ensure key roles are staffed with competent and appropriately trained personnel
  • Effectively manage manpower requirements, production planning, stock management, instrumentation calibration, plant maintenance, plant modifications, and safety controls
  • Maintain existing plant facilities and equipment in a good state of repair
  • Timeously report, investigate, and follow up on all safety and quality deviations
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Business, or related discipline
Experience:
  • 5+ years related technical experience
  • 3+ years' experience in a leadership position or supervisory experience within a manufacturing environment
  • 3+ years' experience in Supply Management within a manufacturing environment (advantageous)
  • Complete understanding of Safety, Quality, OEE, Capacity/Resource Planning, Continuous Improvement, and other activities related to the production process
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and develop operational plans
  • Knowledge of business finance linking financial outcomes with operations actions and strategy
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma and continuous improvement
