Position Overview:

The primary role of the incumbent is to assist Investigations and Focus teams, as well as case plans, under the guidance of the lead social worker. This role is essential in achieving the objectives of individual families and the agency within the Children Services and Child Protection Teams.

Responsibilities include providing services to children and families governed by the Child Protection Act, particularly those in alternative care settings.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate existing case plans and aid in the development of goals as they emerge through support provided to the child.
  • Collect and analyze historical child protection file data.
  • Engage with collateral sources to obtain necessary information.
  • Accompany social workers during interviews with children, parents, caregivers, and other pertinent information sources.
  • Conduct home assessments, observe family dynamics, and evaluate living conditions to offer insights and education regarding parenting and child safety.
  • Facilitate and attend medical evaluations for children, ensuring the professional is informed about the child's health status.
  • Complete required documentation and assist in the delivery of documents to parents.
  • Collaborate with the Social Worker to arrange suitable placements and gather essential information to support these placements.
  • In partnership with the Social Worker, compile and collect information throughout the duration of Child and Family Services involvement to make referrals to community organizations as necessary.
  • Provide relevant case information to the Social Worker and supervisor.
  • Transport clients as needed.
  • Participate in case planning activities under the direction of the Social Worker to prevent family separation and maintain family integrity.
  • Refer clients to appropriate services as identified by the Social Worker.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with service providers as required.
  • Work towards building partnerships with service providers and the community.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
