The Family Service Worker is an integral member of the Child Protection Team, tasked with providing essential support to families in various domains including parenting, financial management, life skills enhancement, and family preservation efforts.

This role requires flexibility in working hours to effectively assist families during critical times.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Delivering personalized support to individuals or families in areas such as parenting education, life skills development, safety assessments, financial literacy, conflict resolution, and self-esteem building;
  • Helping clients establish their own community and family support networks;
  • Connecting clients with available community resources;
  • Collaborating with parents to enhance their childcare abilities, coping strategies, household management, and other essential life skills;
  • Facilitating and overseeing family visitations;
  • Engaging in communication and coordination with Child Protection Social Workers and foster care providers;
  • Regularly reviewing caseloads with supervisors and Child Protection Social Workers to assess case progress and adjust plans as necessary;
  • Providing assistance to foster caregivers and children in care;
  • Transporting clients, including infants, children, and youth in care;
  • Offering testimony in court proceedings under the Child Protection Act;
  • Conducting group work sessions;
  • Maintaining daily case notes and managing client files on ISM;
  • Performing additional duties as required.
