As a Cloud Solutions Architect at Dentons, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and implementing robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructures utilizing the Microsoft Azure platform. Your expertise will be essential in collaborating with diverse stakeholders to capture operational needs and translate them into effective Azure solutions. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of Azure services, IT architectural best practices, and cloud technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Designing comprehensive solutions, which includes producing detailed architecture diagrams, documentation, and specifications tailored for Azure initiatives.
  • Planning and overseeing Azure infrastructure, focusing on the design and implementation of Azure components such as virtual networks, virtual machines, storage solutions, and PaaS/IaaS services.
  • Ensuring adherence to security and compliance standards by developing and executing security protocols, monitoring for regulatory adherence, and maintaining resilient platforms.
  • Managing monitoring and incident response, which involves proactively overseeing Azure services, identifying potential issues, and working with the security team to bolster security measures.
  • Optimizing performance by refining Azure resources for cost-effectiveness, performance, and efficiency, implementing scalability best practices, and conducting performance evaluations and application tuning.
  • Enhancing automation and scripting capabilities by creating automation models, scripts, and processes to streamline service delivery, integrating automation tools to reduce repetitive tasks, and improving operational efficiency.
  • Providing operational support, which includes engaging in change management processes, offering operational assistance and oversight, and collaborating with the Operations and Infrastructure team for capacity planning and administration.
  • Working in conjunction with IT teams, closely engaging with other IT departments to comprehend application requirements, contributing to the deployment and management of native cloud applications, and mentoring less experienced team members.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Exceptional communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of Azure services, Azure Resource Manager (ARM), and Azure DevOps.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, or Azure CLI.
  • Experience with monitoring tools and incident response in cloud environments.
  • Solid grasp of cloud security principles and best practices.
  • Outstanding troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment and share knowledge.

Educational Background and Experience:

  • Post-secondary education in IT or a minimum of 8 years of IT experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing Azure cloud infrastructure.
  • Extensive experience in designing and implementing solutions on Azure.
  • Excellent understanding of cloud architecture concepts and best practices.
  • Proficiency in scripting and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
  • Relevant Microsoft certifications are required, such as Azure Administrator Associate or Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
