Role Overview:

The Project Engineer will report directly to the Plant Manager and will play a crucial role in engineering operations. This hands-on position collaborates with various departments, including maintenance, production, quality assurance, supply chain, technical operations, and R&D, to identify and implement process enhancements and capital projects.

The Project Engineer will analyze existing operational processes to pinpoint improvement areas aimed at reducing waste and enhancing product flow through the manufacturing pipeline to final release. Proposed improvements will be developed, presented, prioritized, and executed upon approval. The engineer will also prepare proposals for enhancements to senior management and oversee their implementation using both internal and external resources.

This role not only addresses current improvement opportunities but also anticipates future needs, ensuring that equipment and processes are developed and maintained accordingly. Key focus areas include digitization, automation, and the effective use of manufacturing data.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders and process owners to identify, develop, and manage improvement projects with clearly defined scopes and milestones.
  • Negotiate with and oversee contractors to meet established timelines and manage project costs within budget.
  • Prepare comprehensive capital project request reports for various engineering initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress from start to finish, providing regular updates and reports.
  • Act as Project Manager for process improvement initiatives, technical transfers, and change requests, engaging the necessary technical support within Bimeda.
  • Ensure project implementation adheres to design criteria, safety standards, budgets, timelines, and all other project requirements.
  • Establish protocols for formal project governance, including regular meetings and status updates.

Process Management:

  • Oversee improvement processes for both operational and capital projects.
  • Conduct process and data analysis to optimize technical solutions.
  • Contribute to technological advancements within operations based on industry expertise.
  • Review and recommend changes to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on in-depth knowledge of equipment capabilities and operations.
  • Collaborate with various internal stakeholders during the development and execution of process improvement and capital projects.
  • Ensure adherence to Bimeda's work practices, including procedures, approvals, documentation, communication, and health and safety standards in all projects.
  • Guarantee that all project activities are planned, assigned, communicated, documented, and executed to achieve expected outcomes.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory programs and company policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Project management certification is advantageous.
  • Experience managing electro-mechanical contractors.
  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is beneficial.
  • Proven project management and process improvement experience.
  • Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously with competing deadlines.
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Ability to lead effectively within a team environment.
  • Capable of devising practical, innovative solutions for a variety of technical challenges.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in a multidisciplinary project team environment.
