Job Overview

The Trainer for Safety Awareness Programs is responsible for the effective implementation of the new safety training initiatives, alongside corporate and locally sanctioned training programs related to mail handling, delivery procedures, and the rollout of innovative products, services, processes, systems, and equipment. This role ensures the high quality of training delivery. The Trainer collaborates with stakeholders to assess training needs, engages in planning activities, conducts training sessions that align with corporate standards, and performs evaluations to confirm that learning objectives are achieved. Additionally, the Trainer fosters positive relationships between employees and management.

Key Responsibilities

The primary duties and responsibilities of the Trainer include:

Facilitating corporate training sessions covering all facets of mail operations and the integration of changes to equipment, systems, services, products, or processes, including leadership development. Employs effective adult learning techniques to deliver training solutions tailored to client requirements. This may encompass traditional classroom settings, on-the-job training, demonstrations, workshops, etc. Ensures uniformity in training across all operational shifts. Evaluating the skills, competencies, and knowledge of light vehicle operators in both classroom and practical driving scenarios; authorizing individuals to operate corporate vehicles. Collaborating with stakeholders to pinpoint local training requirements. Developing and modifying new training programs, as approved for local application. Engaging with team leaders in the planning and execution process. Offering recommendations to management regarding enhancements to existing corporate training programs. Conducting and overseeing performance assessments, evaluations, and tests related to training prospective hires and new employees. Analyzing and interpreting results, providing constructive feedback to candidates and the management team regarding training outcomes. Implementing procedures that guarantee effective employee training, including post-training evaluations and follow-up actions.

Continued Responsibilities

6. Offering guidance and coaching to current employees, providing direction and recommendations to both employees and management on further training or corrective actions needed when training standards are not met. May suggest disciplinary measures.

7. Documenting and entering training data into the training event management system.

8. Serving as an instructor and/or facilitator for training and development programs within the region and, as necessary, for employees outside the region. Monitoring and providing appropriate feedback and coaching to peer mentors.

9. Maintaining comprehensive knowledge of the latest systems, processes, services, equipment, products, and technologies utilized in mail operations. Staying updated on training and development methodologies and practices.

Qualifications

Education

High School diploma or equivalent (GED)

Experience

Degree, diploma, or certificate from an accredited institution in one of the following areas: Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Commerce or Business Administration (with a focus on Human Resources/coursework in Training & Development), Certificate in Adult Education, Instructional Design, Organizational Learning, OR A combination of a high school diploma and relevant experience (defined as experience obtained within the last five years); AND At least 1 year of cumulative, relevant experience delivering training in a classroom or operational setting using formal curriculum (defined as experience obtained within the last five years) OR Successful completion of a temporary or developmental training role within the last 18 months. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Additional Information

Other Candidate Requirements

Must possess a valid permanent driver's license (no graduated or temporary licenses).

Must have a satisfactory safe driving record, which includes:

a) No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.

b) No more than three demerit points assigned in a single violation.

c) No license suspension or prohibition of any kind in the last 3 years.

Assets

Experience in commercial vehicle operation and/or Fleet/Vehicle safety.

Possession of provincial licensing authority where applicable.

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and familiarity with SAP, including experience in creating sophisticated presentations in PowerPoint for classroom delivery.
