Join Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH) as a Social Worker
Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to be part of the Overdose Emergency Response team. We are looking for professionals who are passionate about making a difference in the community.
Responsibilities of the Social Worker at Vancouver Coastal Health include:
Delivering clinical and consultative social work services to individuals and families. Performing comprehensive social assessments. Offering therapeutic counselling services. Maintaining accurate client documentation. Participating in interdisciplinary clinical and case discussions. Identifying relevant community resources for clients and facilitating care throughout their journey.Required Qualifications
Education & Experience
Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers. Bachelor's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution. A minimum of two (2) years of recent experience working with marginalized populations facing multiple health challenges, including mental health and substance use issues, preferably in community-based or Indigenous-led organizations. A valid BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle for work-related purposes.Knowledge & Skills
Fundamental understanding of systems thinking in relation to social work. Proficient in counselling techniques. Awareness of local initiatives affecting patient care and resource accessibility. General knowledge of Trauma-Informed Care and Harm Reduction principles. Proven ability to promote Indigenous Cultural Safety. Competence in providing culturally safe care across diverse populations. Familiarity with other health disciplines and their roles in patient care. Understanding of relevant legislation and policies impacting clients. Demonstrated capability in conducting psychosocial evaluations. Ability to apply systems theory in social work assessment and intervention. Skill in effectively communicating with clients, families, team members, and community organizations. Adaptability to new or unforeseen circumstances. Proficiency in managing conflict situations. Experience working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team. Ability to operate relevant equipment and software applications. Physical capability to fulfill the responsibilities of the position.Additional Information
Work hours, including days off and work locations, may vary based on operational needs and collective agreements. Successful candidates may need to undergo a Criminal Records Review Check.
