Health Care Social Worker

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Health Care Social Worker to join our interdisciplinary healthcare team. As a key member of our team, you will provide collaborative, holistic care on the primary to quaternary care continuum.
As a Health Care Social Worker, you will be primarily concerned with the relationships between people and their environments, which are integral to psychosocial, emotional and spiritual wellbeing. You will build upon the strengths of patients/clients by focusing on existing coping strategies and problem solving skills, past successes, and personal resources.
This is a multi-site position, with opportunities to work at Guysborough Memorial Hospital and Eastern Memorial Hospital Canso. We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's degree in Social Work from a recognized university, current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers, and 2 years' post BSW related clinical experience.
We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated ability to use a client-/family-centered approach, familiarity with various evidence-based treatment approaches, and experience with group facilitation. You will also need to be able to complete biopsychosocial assessments, have excellent communication skills, and be able to assist patients and families with navigation of local community resources and agencies.
This is a permanent full-time position, with 75 hours bi-weekly. Travel to various sites is required. The hourly rate is $33.96 - $42.89. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
