Assistant Professor Position in Forest Conservation Biology

We are seeking a highly qualified candidate for a tenure-stream faculty position in the field of forest conservation biology at the University of Toronto's John H. Daniels Faculty of Architecture, Landscape, and Design.
About the PositionThis appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to pursue innovative and independent research in forest conservation science, with a high potential for funding through competitive granting agencies.
Responsibilities- Conduct research in forest conservation biology, with a focus on conservation science, biodiversity, ecological systems, and strategies for the protection and restoration of forested landscapes.
- Teach at all levels of the undergraduate and graduate programs, including the professionally accredited Masters in Forest Conservation program, forest conservation undergraduate program (BA and BSc), and research-stream PhD and MScF programs.
- Participate in related Faculty service, including graduate student supervision and committee work.
Candidates must have earned a PhD degree in conservation biology, biodiversity science, or a related field by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter. They must also have a demonstrated record of excellence in research and teaching, with a strong teaching statement, sample course materials, and teaching evaluations or other evidence of superior performance in teaching-related activities.
