About the Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to join our team at Nova Bus, a leading manufacturer of sustainable transportation solutions. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for coordinating and implementing our environmental health and safety management system, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive environmental health and safety program, including training and awareness initiatives, to promote a culture of safety and sustainability within the organization.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify and mitigate potential hazards, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement sustainable practices and initiatives, reducing our environmental footprint and promoting a culture of sustainability.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regulatory agencies, industry associations, and other stakeholders to stay informed about emerging trends and best practices in environmental health and safety.
  • Provide training and support to employees on environmental health and safety procedures, policies, and protocols.
  • Investigate and report on incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, including policies, procedures, and records, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement strategies to improve environmental health and safety performance, reducing risks and improving overall sustainability.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing effective environmental health and safety programs, with a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and mitigate potential hazards and risks.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with a strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
