The Opportunity

Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity is a renowned culinary destination in the Bow Valley, boasting two exceptional restaurants and hosting numerous banquets and receptions throughout the year. Our menus are inspired by fresh, local ingredients and infused with creativity, providing an unforgettable dining experience for our guests.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and supervision to staff, ensuring adherence to company policies and delivering exceptional customer service.
  • Prepare daily work plans, make decisions for weekly requirements, and assess future service needs for resources.
  • Creatively manage and provide an elevated dining experience, focusing on quality customer service.
  • Responsible for hiring and scheduling staff, developing effective training programs, and providing direction and feedback.
  • Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of food and beverage areas and equipment.
  • Manage inventory of restaurant equipment and supplies, accurately meeting demands throughout the year.
  • Assist in setting budgetary requirements and making recommendations for the annual operating and capital budget.
  • Promote and maintain positive employee relations, adhering to Banff Centre policies.

Qualifications and Educational Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Hospitality Management or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience as a Manager/Assistant Manager in a multi-outlet food and beverage operation.
  • Fine dining management experience is an asset.
  • Good knowledge of wine and AGLC regulations.
  • Strong planning and organization skills.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Knowledge of 4-star properties, banquet/meeting set-ups, proper food handling practices, and fine dining.
  • Sound knowledge of MS Office, property management systems, and point of sales machines.
  • Hands-on understanding of Alberta Serve Safe and Alberta ProServe is required.
  • ASIP and Wine I certificate an asset.
  • Willingness to work weekends, shift work, and may be required to work split-shifts as needed.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding position, lifting, bending, standing for extended periods.

Employment Terms & Benefits

  • Permanent, full-time position, subject to a 6-month probation period, working 40 hours per week.
  • Salary range: $50,717 - $72,532 based on experience.
  • Twenty paid vacation days and four personal days annually, extended medical and dental benefits, and participation in an employer-matched pension plan.
