This position is responsible for working with credit union members to create comprehensive financial plans based on individual financial needs and goals. The successful candidate will provide retirement planning, investment counseling, estate planning, and disability insurance services.
Duties and Responsibilities- Conducts personal interviews with members, identifies individual member needs and goals, develops an appropriate financial plan, and makes appropriate recommendations.
- Provides members with a holistic wealth approach that focuses on their unique, personal situations. This includes financial, retirement, investment, estate, insurance, and tax planning.
- Provides basic and comprehensive insurance planning strategies using life, disability, critical illness, and long-term care insurance.
- Creates and maintains client files adhering to compliance requirements, and reports on activities to credit union Wealth Manager and/or Aviso Sales Development Manager.
- Conducts client seminars on wealth management and attends business development opportunities as required.
- Administers assigned budget; ensures budget is not exceeded and expenditures are effectively managed.
- Promotes Synergy Credit Union's investment through the AVI program in the community.
- Provides support where possible to credit union staff on wealth management products.
- Develops business plans.
- Identifies opportunities that successfully meet the members' needs and plants seeds for future product/services and follow-ups.
- High School Diploma
- LLQP – Life & Accident and Sickness
- Securities (CSC) Licensing
- Financial Planning Designation (i.e. CFP, PFP, CLU, Ch.F.C., CIM)
- Minimum 2 years of industry experience as a financial planner.
- General investment and insurance industry knowledge and awareness of the Canadian credit union system are highly desirable.
- Ability to keep informed of latest trends in financial markets, industry competitors, current issues, and strategies.
- Ability to develop cooperative relationships along with strong sales and presentation skills, strong oral and written communication skills, and strong organizational skills;
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong engagement in business development activities, and volunteerism.
- Teamwork spirit.
