Position Overview

The Lead Project Control Analyst plays a crucial role within our Project Management Office (PMO), responsible for providing essential project-related insights that facilitate informed decision-making. This position involves overseeing financial and analytical outputs for project teams and senior management while also offering guidance and training to a dedicated team of project accountants and analysts. The Lead Analyst will actively contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives within the realms of project finance and performance metrics.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide mentorship, training, and development opportunities for members of the project controls team.
  • Manage team performance, including coaching and implementing best practices for continuous improvement.
  • Enhance data collection processes and operational efficiency, particularly through the effective use of existing tools.
  • Employ analytical methodologies to collect, analyze, and interpret project data, delivering insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to establish cross-functional workflows, ensuring accurate and timely data inputs for project control reporting.
  • Oversee the initiation of projects and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Partner with the finance department to develop comprehensive monthly and annual financial plans and budgets.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of team deliverables through thorough review and validation processes.
  • Participate in project reviews, tracking actions related to financial performance.
  • Conduct financial analysis for Project Change Requests as necessary.
  • Support long-term financial planning, including business strategy and forecasting for unbooked projects.
  • Serve as the primary point of accountability for the financial accuracy of project budget files.
  • Exercise decision-making authority within the project financial parameters.
  • Hold signing authority in accordance with the company’s established guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline. CPA designation is a plus.
  • Experience: 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a project controls setting, with 2 to 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; meticulous attention to detail; proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; adept at prioritizing tasks; solid understanding of accounting principles and ERP systems.
  • Other: Familiarity with project management concepts, contracts, and change order documentation.
