Position Overview
The Project Controls Team Supervisor plays a pivotal role within the Project Management Office (PMO), responsible for delivering critical project-related insights that facilitate informed decision-making. This leadership position entails overseeing financial and analytical outputs for project teams and senior management while also mentoring a dedicated group of project accountants and analysts. Additionally, the Supervisor will champion initiatives aimed at enhancing project financial performance and measurement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide guidance, training, and professional development opportunities for team members.
- Manage team performance through effective mentoring and the application of industry best practices.
- Encourage ongoing improvements in data collection processes and operational efficiency, particularly in the utilization of existing tools.
- Employ analytical methodologies to collect, assess, and interpret project data, offering valuable insights and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal partners to establish cross-functional workflows, ensuring the accuracy and availability of data inputs for project controls reporting.
- Oversee the initiation phase of projects.
- Work closely with the Finance department to prepare consolidated project and operational financial plans and budgets on a monthly and annual basis.
- Ensure the integrity of team deliverables through thorough review and validation, implementing quality assurance practices to uphold high standards.
- Participate in monthly project evaluations and monitor actions related to financial performance.
- Conduct financial analyses for Project Change Requests as necessary.
- Support long-term financial planning, including business strategies and forecasts for unbooked projects.
- Serve as the primary point of accountability for Accountants and Analysts within the Project Controls team, ensuring the financial accuracy of project budget documentation.
- Exercise decision-making authority within the confines of the Project Analyst team's responsibilities and the financial parameters of projects.
- Hold signing authority in accordance with the organization's signing authority matrix.
Qualifications
- Education: A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or a related discipline. A CPA designation is considered advantageous.
- Experience: Between 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in a project controls setting, with 2 to 3 years in a leadership capacity within a dynamic environment.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities; meticulous attention to detail; deadline-oriented; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel; adept at prioritizing tasks; solid understanding of accounting principles and ERP systems, with familiarity in Epicor being a plus.
- Other: Knowledge of project management concepts, contractual agreements, and change order documentation.
