About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Health and Safety Professional to join our team at Silver Hills Bakery. As a key member of our Operations team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing our Occupational Health and Safety programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage and empower our workforce to prioritize Health and Safety, providing support and guidance on the shop floor.
  • Monitor, analyze, and implement effective occupational safety and health programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to deliver training sessions, manage risks, and develop safe work practices.
  • Provide coaching and development to First Aid attendants, ensuring they are equipped to respond to emergencies.
  • Chair monthly Health & Safety Committee meetings, facilitating the development and implementation of Health & Safety policies and programs.
  • Provide OHS support to operations, engineering, and associated support departments, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Prepare and present monthly safety reports, providing regular feedback on project status updates and documenting incremental savings on WCB premiums.
  • Conduct comprehensive and results-focused incident/accident investigations, including root cause analysis.
  • Maintain effective and progressive safety communication vehicles, coaching team members on OHS policy and procedures.
  • Manage WorkSafeBC-related claims, Return to Work programs, and create Training & Development standards.
  • Develop and implement creative Safety programs to engage staff and support company objectives.
Requirements
  • Designated Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) certification.
  • Strong people leadership skills, including coaching and motivating.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of various computer applications, including Office 365 and SharePoint.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience working as an OHS professional.
  • Related post-secondary education.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate/Diploma.
  • Experience working in a food manufacturing environment.
