Mental Health Nurse

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team at Fraser Health. As a key member of our interprofessional care team, you will provide treatment and care management services to individuals with mental illness and concurrent disorders.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate care for clients by collaborating with the interprofessional care team, performing intake functions, conducting mental health assessments, and developing comprehensive treatment plans.
- Administer prescribed medications, monitor and assess clients' mental state, and provide education on management and treatment of specific psychiatric conditions.
- Provide treatment services, including crisis intervention, individual counseling, and education, to clients and their informal support network.
- Act as a client advocate, promoting their right to autonomy, respect, privacy, dignity, and access to information.
- Consult and collaborate with members of the interprofessional care team to identify and resolve issues, adjust care plans as required, and ensure continuity of appropriate treatment.
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing.
- Two years recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders.
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage.
- Ability to complete initial and ongoing mental health and substance use client assessments and provide nursing care through appropriate technical, therapeutic, and safety interventions.
- Knowledge of mental illness and substance use treatment, psychopharmacology, and legislation and government policies and procedures related to mental health and substance use practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with clients, families/caregivers, the public, medical staff, and members of the interprofessional care team.
