Operations Trainee Job Description

Craftsman Collision is a leading auto body repair chain in Canada, committed to excellence and customer satisfaction. We're seeking a skilled Operations Trainee to support our operations manager in the Okanagan region.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive experience for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support daily operations, leading to efficient and effective shop management.
  • Manage shop operations in alignment with The Craftsman Way (TCW).
  • Provide vacation coverage as required, under the direction of the regional operations manager.
  • Utilize company dashboards to identify and prioritize tasks.
  • Participate in daily production meetings, maintaining professional relationships with stakeholders.
  • Write estimates and schedules repairs as needed.
  • Enter parts and sublet invoices using the Craftsman Management System.
  • Apply expert knowledge of insurance and fleet policies and procedures.
  • Support daily production, workflow, and quality control.
  • Walk with purpose, demonstrating care for the vehicle and stakeholders.
  • Work with the Operations team and Shop Manager to achieve operational goals.
  • Proactively reduce effort to increase touch time and reduce vehicle days in shop.
  • Ensure compliance with internal policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Bring forward suggestions for training needs and process improvements.
  • Support company standards in SPARKLE, safety, and security.
  • Represent and promote the Craftsman Collision brand positively.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Working towards I-CAR Platinum certification (an asset).
  • Strong verbal, written, and listening skills, with the ability to interact with senior leadership.
  • Diplomatic skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Time management, problem-solving, critical thinking, and sound judgment skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a customer service-oriented attitude.
  • Proficient in Outlook and video conferencing platforms, with a willingness to learn new applications.
  • Demonstrated desire and aptitude for learning and development.
  • Interest in vehicles and the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of ADAS systems, vehicle calibrations, and emerging vehicle technologies (an asset).
  • Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract over the last 3 years.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada with no restrictions.
