The Role: Reporting to the Regional Operations Manager, the Area Operations Manager will oversee several branch locations (3-5) and will be accountable for ensuring safe operations and deliveries across all sites; achieving key performance indicators for operational efficiency; managing operating expenses for the area, and ensuring customer satisfaction is met or surpassed.

Key Responsibilities:
Safety and Reliability:
  • Act as a safety champion within the area, ensuring the highest safety standards are upheld across all branches.
  • Ensure all drivers adhere to proper safety protocols and that training is provided as necessary.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and workplace observations to ensure compliance.
  • Stay informed on safety and regulatory standards within the area to ensure adherence to regulatory bodies.
  • Guarantee safe operations in all branch, bulk plant, and cardlock locations within the area.
Operational Efficiency:
  • Oversee the area operating expense budget and seek opportunities to reduce costs.
  • Collaborate with the Logistics Manager to ensure optimal routing efficiencies.
  • Accountable for meeting key performance indicators related to delivery efficiency and maintenance of vehicles and bulk facilities in the area.
  • Maintain all sites to corporate standards and oversee necessary maintenance.
Customer Engagement:
  • Ensure customer profitability within the area.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to secure business while maintaining operational efficiency.
  • Manage customer relationships to ensure exceptional on-time service.
  • Own the Net Promoter Score (NPS) to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
  • Address customer concerns and resolve complaints promptly.
Performance Oversight:
  • Promote corporate values and behaviors within the area.
  • Support and train Operations Supervisors/Managers in the branches.
  • Establish and manage key performance indicators and objectives for all team members in the area.
  • Determine staffing requirements for the branches.
  • Provide product knowledge support to branches as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and/or 5+ years of progressive experience focusing on operations management, business accounting, marketing, and sales.
  • Desirable industry knowledge related to fuel distribution.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage conflict and de-escalate issues effectively.
  • Understanding of transportation compliance regulations.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with proven leadership capabilities while maintaining a friendly demeanor.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Safety-oriented mindset.
