About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Physiotherapist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Physiotherapist - Bone & Joint Specialist, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients in a tertiary care setting who present with actual or potential impairment, pain, functional limitations, or disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough medical histories and perform standardized tests and evaluation procedures to determine a physical diagnosis.
  • Develop holistic treatment programs using exercises, education, and manual, mechanical, electrical, and hydrotherapy techniques to assist patients in regaining and/or maintaining optimal function.
  • Communicate effectively with other healthcare disciplines, the general public, family members, and caregivers regarding health promotion, physiotherapy treatment, and patient management.
  • Supervise and evaluate physiotherapy students and supervise physiotherapy assistants and aides.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to determine team goals and objectives, participate in the evaluation of team effectiveness, and solve problems and share responsibilities.

The successful applicant may be required to provide services throughout the Rehabilitation & Supportive Care portfolio.

About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Physiotherapy from an accredited university.
  • Membership with the Nova Scotia College of Physiotherapists (Provincial licensing body).
  • Computer skills, including statistics input, word processing, and Outlook.
  • Annual Cardio-pulmonary Resuscitation certification (BCLS).
  • Previous experience in inpatient acute care, orthopedics, burns, and/or plastics is considered an asset.
  • Annual Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System training and certification (WHMIS).
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.
  • Competencies in other languages are an asset, with French preferred.

Hours and Compensation

This is a Permanent, Part-time (60%) position, with 45 hours bi-weekly. The hourly rate is $42.89.
