Job Summary:

The Director, Financial Services is a key leadership position responsible for providing strategic financial guidance and support to the College's management team. This role requires a strong understanding of financial management principles, budgeting, and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide financial leadership and guidance to College managers and employees on financial, budgeting, internal controls, asset protection, and purchasing issues.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the College's strategic decisions and goals.
  • Oversee budget preparation and administration, financial accounting, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, purchasing, and supply-chain management.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting and monitoring to support responsible financial and budgetary decision-making.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the protection of the College's financial and other assets.

Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in business, economics, finance, or accounting.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) and membership in good standing with the BC institute.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior financial or accounting position, with management and supervisory experience in a medium to large public sector entity.
  • Demonstrated track record of mid to senior-level management and administrative experience, preferably in both the public and private sectors.
  • Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting, control, and reporting principles, methods, techniques, and standards, including federal and provincial financial regulations.
  • Knowledge of computerized information systems used in financial and/or accounting applications.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or projections.
