Your Role as a Systems Engineer for Product Integration, Validation, and Verification:

The Verification and Validation Engineer will oversee all facets of the validation and verification processes for naval communication systems tailored for both military and commercial uses. This role entails designing tests, planning, automating, and executing assessments to ensure the delivery of top-quality products. The ideal candidate will exhibit self-motivation, creativity, proactivity, and a collaborative spirit.

The V&V Engineer will collaborate closely with embedded software developers, hardware engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to conduct test iterations, monitor and report results, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with product owners, development teams, and stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of the product and testing goals.
  • Participate in design reviews to ensure that design requirements are testable.
  • Establish test specifications that encompass both simple and complex system functionalities.
  • Create and document test plans, execute tests, and compile reports.
  • Define and configure the testing and validation environment, including script development and vendor engagement for samples and quotations.
  • Develop and execute automated tests addressing functionality and diagnostic needs.
  • Communicate critical issues and updates promptly.
  • Analyze test failures and identify root causes.
  • Provide training for individuals involved in verification and validation tasks as necessary.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with 2-10 years of experience in the systems engineering lifecycle, including familiarity with requirements development tools (e.g., DOORS).
  • Experience in the integration and testing of military or commercial systems.
  • Knowledge of naval communication systems.
  • Ability to resolve technical challenges during the implementation, integration, and testing of system and subsystem components.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in a comparable position.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English and/or French.
  • Thorough understanding of verification methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
  • Familiarity with protocols such as TCP, IP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, SSH, etc.
  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Lua, JavaScript, Bash, XML, JSON).
  • Experience with various hypervisors (e.g., KVM, VMware, VirtualBox).
  • Solid background in test automation and continuous integration.
  • Extensive experience in functional and performance testing.
  • Strong written and spoken English skills.

  • Knowledge of naval and commercial certification standards and processes.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must be eligible for registration with the Controlled Goods Program.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO SECRET security clearance.
  • Must meet the requirements for ITAR.
