The **Senior Integration and Test Engineer** will play a crucial role in formulating and upholding system verification and validation strategies for the Telesat LEO constellation communication system. This position involves active participation in various testing initiatives across the Telesat Lightspeed system alongside vendors and partners, as well as maintaining laboratory setups and supporting field operations as necessary.
Main Responsibilities- Provide recommendations and influence the system verification and validation processes for the Telesat Lightspeed system.
- Develop verification matrices for systems and subsystems in alignment with established requirements.
- Coordinate and engage in system-level testing activities, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Act as a SATCOM Subject Matter Expert (SME) and offer support to other technical personnel as needed.
- Create and maintain test cases and test environments necessary for various testing scenarios.
- Conduct hands-on testing in the LEO Lab for diverse data path and routing functionalities.
- Collaborate with other segments such as DevOps, Ground Systems, and Satellite to foster a cooperative and innovative atmosphere.
- Engage actively in component and subsystem design and testing efforts.
- Configure testing equipment including Satellite Link Emulators, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and traffic generators.
- Ensure that products under test meet technical, functional, performance, and business specifications.
- Collaborate with partners and vendors during various testing campaigns.
- B. Sc. in Electrical, Computer, or System Engineering with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in satellite communications.
- Strong familiarity with modulation and coding techniques utilized in contemporary satellite communication standards such as DVB-S2X, TDMA, and DVB-RCS2.
- Solid understanding of Linux, IP, and Routing Protocols.
- Proven knowledge of air interfaces, modem technologies, modulation, and coding, and their implications on satellite link performance.
- Experience with test case and defect tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Jama).
- Proven ability to communicate effectively with management, engineering teams, and partners/suppliers.
- Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
- Experience collaborating with geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience with various traffic generation tools such as Ixia and Spirent.
- A highly collaborative team player capable of quickly gaining the trust of colleagues and teammates.
- Proficient in programming languages such as MATLAB, Python, or C++.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
- Experience in automation using programming languages like Python.
The successful candidate must be eligible to work in Canada and obtain clearance under the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
