Systems Engineer for Product Integration and Validation

Your Role as a Systems Engineer for Product Integration, Validation, and Verification:
The Verification and Validation Engineer will oversee the comprehensive verification and validation processes for naval communication systems utilized in both military and commercial sectors. This role involves meticulous testing of designs, strategic planning, automation, and execution of tests to ensure the delivery of top-tier products. The ideal candidate will be proactive, innovative, and collaborative.
The V&V Engineer will collaborate closely with embedded software developers, hardware engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders to execute test cycles, monitor and report outcomes, troubleshoot issues, and facilitate resolutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with product owners, development teams, and stakeholders to gain a comprehensive understanding of product specifications and testing goals.
- Participate in design evaluations to ensure that design criteria are verifiable.
- Establish test specifications that encompass both simple and complex system functionalities.
- Create and document test plans, conduct tests, and compile reports.
- Set up the testing and validation environment, including script development and vendor communication for samples and quotes.
- Design and execute automated tests to cover both functional and diagnostic requirements.
- Timely communicate critical issues and provide status updates.
- Analyze test failures and identify root causes.
- Provide training for personnel involved in verification and validation processes as necessary.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field with 2-10 years of experience in the systems engineering lifecycle, including familiarity with requirements development tools (e.g., DOORS).
- Experience in the integration and testing of military or commercial systems.
- Knowledge of naval communication systems.
- Ability to resolve technical challenges encountered during system implementation, integration, and testing.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a comparable position.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with proficiency in English and/or French.
- Solid understanding of verification methodologies and the software development lifecycle.
- Familiarity with networking protocols (TCP, IP, HTTP, FTP, DNS, SSH, etc.).
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, Lua, JavaScript, Bash, XML, JSON, etc.).
- Experience with various hypervisors (KVM, VMware, VirtualBox, etc.).
- Proven experience in test automation and continuous integration.
- Experience in functional and performance testing.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.

- Understanding of military standards applicable to system design and testing.
- Knowledge of naval and commercial certification standards and processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Must meet eligibility requirements for the Controlled Goods Program.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Government of Canada Reliability status and Secret Level 2/NATO SECRET security clearance.
- Must meet requirements for ITAR compliance.
