Lead Tax Compliance Analyst

The Senior Taxation Specialist will be responsible for executing both domestic and international tax compliance, tax accounting, and tax reporting for the Honda Canada entities. Additionally, the role will involve participation in special projects as required.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Generate high-quality deliverables concerning direct and indirect domestic and international tax compliance, specifically related to Honda Canada. This includes preparing T2s, commodity tax returns, NR4s, T106s, GMT returns, EIFEL calculations, and more.
  2. Assist in tax audits by coordinating with government auditors.
  3. Collaborate with international business units to support global transfer pricing policies, conduct analyses, and prepare/maintain necessary documentation.
  4. Enhance technical expertise by staying informed on trends, new legislative changes, and tax authority rulings, and communicate their implications for Honda Canada.
  5. Conduct research and analysis on various transactions impacting the companies and clarify applicable tax treatments to mitigate tax risks.
  6. Support financial planning and reporting related to tax accounting, including internal control responsibilities, book-to-tax adjustments, tax cash flow forecasting, and management of tax payments and refunds.
  7. Engage in special tax projects and other tax-related tasks as required.
Qualifications:
  1. A university degree is required, with a preference for a Business or Accounting degree.
  2. Possession of an accounting designation (CPA, CA, CGA, CMA) is essential.
  3. Completion or enrollment in the CICA in-depth tax course program or a Master's Degree in Taxation is preferred.
  4. A minimum of 3 years of experience in Canadian Corporate Tax is required.
  5. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities are necessary.
  6. Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is expected.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  8. Strong interpersonal skills are required to foster good relationships.
