Role Purpose
The Internal Audit Department of the Bank is integral to the risk management framework. Its primary objective is to deliver independent, reasonable, and objective assurance regarding the design and functioning of the Bank's controls and operational processes, alongside providing advisory services aimed at enhancing the Bank's operations.
This position is tasked with executing and overseeing audits that evaluate the design and operational efficacy of internal controls associated with trading and treasury functions across various locations. The individual will collaborate within a team primarily focused on auditing Group Treasury (GT) and its related control functions, including Finance, Product Control, and Global Risk Management. The role involves assisting the Director/VP of GBM/GT Audit in evaluating governance and controls over GT's trading and investment portfolios, funding initiatives, and ensuring compliance with pertinent regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assessing the effectiveness of risk management controls, measurement techniques, limits, and reporting based on a comprehensive understanding of treasury strategies and products related to interest rate risk, liquidity, and funding management.
- Evaluating trading practice controls within Front Office units, risk oversight within the second line of defense, and controls concerning financial reporting and Funds Transfer Pricing (FTP).
- Reviewing the adequacy of methodologies and data integrity surrounding structural interest rate risk and liquidity risk assessments.
- Supervising audit managers and auditors to conduct comprehensive business line reviews as directed by the Director/VP of GBM/GT Audit.
Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of capital markets and banking products, with a solid grasp of risk management techniques and data risk management.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in treasury functions, capital markets, risk management, financial reporting, or audit roles.
- Strong analytical capabilities essential for evaluating risk exposures in complex products and comprehending risk quantification methodologies. Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI, Python) is advantageous.
- Ability to swiftly grasp the risks associated with new products and processes, formulating audit procedures to ensure adequate controls.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, alongside strong problem-solving and leadership abilities.
- Prior experience in liquidity regulatory reporting, FTP, trading, and structural interest rate risk is beneficial.
- A bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Accounting, or a related field is required. Professional designations such as FRM, CPA, or CFA are considered assets.
