Position Summary

We are looking for a Nurse Educator for the Admissions Recovery Unit , recognized as a leading clinician and authority in their specialty area. This role encompasses the following responsibilities:

  • Utilizing adult learning principles to design and deliver educational sessions aimed at enhancing staff development, student proficiency, and favorable patient/family outcomes.
  • Anticipating the effects of nursing care on patient results through intuition and experience.
  • Completing reports related to employee conferences, risk management, and unit administration within designated timelines.
  • Ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures for the unit.
  • Staying updated on innovative clinical practices through benchmarking and evidence-based methodologies.
  • Exhibiting expertise in teaching and mentoring skills.
  • Supporting the development of unit preceptors, including effective delegation and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Aiding the Clinical Nurse Specialist and Unit Director in conducting annual assessments of educational needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
  • A minimum of two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with at least two years in the relevant specialty area.
  • Possession of a valid, active, unencumbered Nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the relevant licensing authority. Nursing certification is preferred.
  • Completion of a formal preceptor training workshop.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) may be necessary in specific departments.
  • If promoted internally or hired externally, the individual must fulfill UNE criteria requirements within nine months of promotion or hire, including completion of Enhancing your Communication HLC#6488.

Physical Requirements (Medium) The role involves lifting 20-50 lbs occasionally (0-33% of the workday), 11-25 lbs frequently (34-66% of the workday), and 1-10 lbs constantly (67-100% of the workday). The position requires occasional to frequent standing and walking, occasional sitting, and close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing). Physical demands may vary based on assigned work area and tasks.

Environmental Factors Environmental conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Potential exposures include, but are not limited to: blood-borne pathogens, biohazardous waste, chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors, communicable diseases, electrical hazards, varying floor surfaces, temperature extremes, indoor/outdoor conditions, latex, lighting, patient care/handling injuries, radiation, shift work, and potential travel. Use of personal protective equipment may be required, and environmental conditions may vary based on assigned work area and tasks.
