In this role, you will play a crucial part in the specimen collection process, which includes welcoming patients and preparing specimens for transport. This position is vital to both patient care and our operational success, allowing you to witness the meaningful contributions you make to patients' health.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome patients, gather necessary information, and clarify the specimen collection procedure while ensuring adherence to testing protocols.
- Conduct phlebotomies, manage holter monitor connections/disconnections, and perform ECG tracings.
- Carry out specialized test collections, including medical/legal drug screenings and paternity tests, while completing the required documentation.
- Maintain strong client relationships by addressing inquiries and following up on requests.
- Enter essential patient demographics and requisition information accurately into the system.
- Prepare specimens for subsequent transportation and testing.
The ideal candidate will excel in customer service and possess the ability to connect with patients, even in challenging situations. Key attributes include empathy, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications:
- Completion of an accredited Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent experience.
- Experience in phlebotomy.
- Strong communication skills.
- Proficient computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute.
- Commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient confidentiality and privacy.
