Fednav Limited, a leading international dry bulk shipping group, is seeking an experienced Application Specialist, IT to join its team. As a key member of the IT department, you will be responsible for the functional and technical ownership of Maritime industry-specific applications, including the Veson IMOS Platform (VIP).

Key Responsibilities:

User Training and Onboarding:

  1. Develop and deliver training sessions to integrate new users into the Maritime industry-specific applications, ensuring they understand the functionality and features of the IMOS Veson system.

System Maintenance and Configuration:

  1. Configure and customize Maritime industry-specific applications, including the IMOS Veson application, to meet specific operational needs, collaborating with Marine owners to maintain the configuration and ensure security.
  2. Perform regular system maintenance tasks, such as reviewing updates, patches, and upgrades, managing the periodic application release process, and maintaining documentation.
  3. Apply and participate in the evolution of Fednav application management standards.

User Support and Assistance (functional support):

  1. Act as the primary point of contact for users wishing to use Maritime industry-specific applications, including the IMOS Veson application effectively, responding promptly to inquiries, requests, and problems by providing prompt and courteous assistance.

Technical Support:

  1. Provide front-line support to users experiencing technical problems on Maritime industry-specific applications, including the Veson IMOS application, by resolving problems, identifying causes, and implementing effective solutions.

Collaboration and Communication:

  1. Build strong relationships with stakeholders in the chartering, operations, and marine accounting teams, understanding their workflows and needs to liaise with other IT practices where necessary.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate has:

  1. Minimum of 10 years' experience in Information Technology and application management and support, business super user, or similar technical role.
  2. Minimum of 5 years' experience in the Maritime Shipping industry and a good understanding of its industry, more specifically in the chartering, operations, or fleet management fields.
  3. Expertise in managing a cloud-based environment and an understanding of cloud network designs (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud).
  4. Experience and understanding of VIP IMOS (Integrated Maritime Operating System) is a highly preferred asset. Experience in Business Intelligence Reporting, Database Management, and API is an added advantage.
  5. In-depth knowledge of Maritime industry-specific applications, including the IMOS Veson application, its configuration functionalities, and best practices. Certification or training in IMOS Veson application support is a plus.
  6. Ability to be focused and detail-oriented.
  7. Excellent organization and planning skills. Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  8. Ability to properly document application configuration, architecture, etc. Excellent interpersonal skills and an ability to be at ease in difficult situations.
  9. Great communication and customer service skills and proven ability to deal with users at all levels of the organization. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build rapport with stakeholders at all levels.
  10. Ability to simplify technical concepts using user-friendly language.
  11. Excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts to non-technical users.
  12. English is required, French is an asset.
