Job Overview
The City of Wetaskiwin is seeking a dedicated individual to oversee the management of all recreational facilities. This role involves planning, organizing, and directing daily operations, special events, and projects within the recreation sector.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide ongoing leadership and support to recreation operations personnel.
- Recruit, train, and evaluate Recreation Operators and Attendants.
- Prepare bi-weekly staff schedules to ensure efficient operations.
- Oversee maintenance tasks related to water health and chemistry at the Manluk Centre pool.
- Coordinate maintenance and line painting for all sports fields.
- Assist with the installation and removal of indoor ice surfaces.
- Collaborate with Facilities on maintenance and project needs.
- Support major community events held within the recreation facilities.
- Compile reports and maintain historical and statistical records as required.
- Manage procurement of materials and services in accordance with purchasing policies.
- Respond to after-hours facility demands as necessary.
- Ensure adherence to the City of Wetaskiwin's Health and Safety Policies.
- Actively participate in the Recreation Department Management team.
Qualifications
- RFP Arena Operator I and II certifications.
- RFP Pool Operator I and II certifications.
- A minimum of three years of experience in operations and maintenance within a recreation facility, preferably in a municipal setting.
- Supervisory and leadership training is considered an asset.
Skills and Abilities
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Comprehensive understanding of recreation facility operations, including pool and ice maintenance.
- Strong decision-making abilities and sound judgment.
- Proven supervisory skills with experience in employee performance management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Regulations.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Able to work effectively under pressure and resolve issues promptly.
