About the Opportunity

The City of Wetaskiwin is seeking a highly skilled Recreation Facilities Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Recreation Department, you will be responsible for managing the operations and use of all recreation facilities, including planning, organizing, and directing day-to-day activities, special events, and projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and support to Recreation operations staff
  • Hire, train, and develop Recreation Operators and Attendants
  • Prepare bi-weekly staff schedules
  • Oversee pool maintenance tasks related to water health and chemistry
  • Coordinate and assist with line painting and field maintenance on sports fields
  • Coordinate and assist with ice installation and removal of indoor ice surfaces
  • Liaise with Facilities on recreation facility maintenance and projects
  • Assist with coordination of capital projects as assigned
  • Liaise with community groups as required to meet facility needs
  • Coordinate logistics and support for major community events within recreation facilities
  • Prepare written reports and compile historic and statistical records as required
  • Coordinate and purchase materials and services within purchasing policy guidelines
  • Respond to after-hour facility demands
  • Liaise with other departments as required
  • Administer and adhere to City of Wetaskiwin Health and Safety Policy and Programs and all other policies set by the City of Wetaskiwin
  • Be an active and contributing member of the Recreation Department Management team and the Community and Protective Services Division
  • Participate in the City's Performance Management process

Requirements

  • RFP Arena Operator I and II
  • RFP Pool Operator I and II
  • Three years of operations and maintenance experience in a recreation facility, preferably in a municipality
  • RFP Parks and Sports fields I and II considered an asset
  • Supervisory/leadership training considered an asset
