Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Registered Practical Nurse to join our dynamic team in the Short Stay Surgery Unit at North York General Hospital. As a key member of our interdisciplinary team, you will provide exceptional patient care, collaborate with colleagues, and contribute to a culture of excellence and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide patient-centered care, assessing, educating, and supporting patients and families in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to prioritize patient care demands, think critically, and make informed decisions.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues, using strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Participate in ongoing learning, professional development, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care and outcomes.
  • Assume a leadership role, demonstrating self-motivation and a commitment to excellence in patient assessment, education, and clinical specialties.

Requirements

  • Registered Practical Nursing diploma from a recognized Community College.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification required.
  • Current Medication Certificate.
  • One year recent experience in surgery, preferred.
  • Genetic termination experience, preferred.
  • PCA, epidural, ostomy, TPN experience, preferred.
  • Patient Assessment course, preferred.
  • Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
