POSITION STATUS: Full Time Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 40 hours per week / shift work / variable hours / occasional weekends

SALARY GRADE: 5

SALARY RANGE: $86,000 - $96,853.00 annually

MAXIMUM SALARY: $107,614.00 annually

JOB TYPE: Management and Administration

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the Recreation Supervisor, the Coordinator for Community Programs is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality recreation services and exceptional customer service that align with the evolving needs of the community.

Leadership and Staff Management

  • Recruit, train, schedule, and mentor staff to foster positive employee relations and enhance morale, creativity, and productivity.
  • Develop action plans to ensure program quality and compliance with regulations.
  • Oversee adherence to relevant legislation, corporate policies, and operational standards.
  • Assess training needs and coordinate staff training sessions and meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of technical skills for effective staff development.
  • Provide crisis support and decision-making assistance as needed.

Administrative Duties

  • Review incident reports and manage follow-up actions to ensure safe program operations.
  • Prepare analytical reports for the Recreation Supervisor, including data on customer satisfaction and financial performance.
  • Monitor and manage statistics related to program participation and operations.
  • Ensure compliance with deadlines and facilitate the onboarding process for new staff.
  • Oversee financial documentation and coordinate payments in line with corporate standards.

Customer Service and Community Development

  • Enhance customer experience by proactively addressing concerns and inquiries.
  • Build partnerships with community leaders and organizations to foster collaboration.
  • Represent the organization on external committees to share insights and gather information.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments of community needs to inform program development.
  • Participate in grant writing and fundraising initiatives to support individuals with unique needs.
  • Organize community events and analyze outcomes for continuous improvement.

Program Development

  • Identify trends and opportunities for program growth and improvement.
  • Ensure quality programming through regular program evaluations.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing strategies to promote programs and enhance community engagement.

Financial Management

  • Develop strategies to enhance financial sustainability and revenue generation.
  • Monitor budget submissions and ensure compliance with financial policies.

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field such as Recreation, Kinesiology, or Social Work.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in recreation programming or facility management.

SKILLS AND ASSETS:

  • Strong public relations skills with the ability to engage effectively with the community.
  • Supervisory experience with staff and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislative regulations.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial oversight.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Current Standard First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.

Aquatics: Training in Aquatic Supervision or Management, along with Aquatic Safety Inspector certification is preferred.

Additional Assets: Certifications such as LSS Life Saving Instructor or LSS First Aid Instructor are beneficial.
