Position Overview

As a vital member of the Functional Enhancement Unit within the Complex Continuing Care and Reactivation Care Centre, you will report directly to the Clinical Manager. Your role will encompass providing comprehensive Recreation Therapy evaluations, facilitating group activities, conducting individualized sessions, and promoting community engagement for all patients enrolled in the program. Additionally, you will offer support across various units within the organization as needed.

Qualifications
  • A university degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Recreation & Leisure Studies with a therapeutic Recreation focus, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Preferred certification as a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS). Registered Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (R/TRO) members will also be considered.
  • Membership in the Canadian Therapeutic Recreation Association (CTRA) or Therapeutic Recreation Ontario (TRO) is required.
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience working with elderly populations.
  • Experience with post-stroke rehabilitation.
  • Experience assisting individuals recovering from fractures.
  • Experience supporting individuals with cognitive and/or behavioral challenges.
  • Proficiency in designing and implementing group and individual programs.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with community resources and the ability to collaborate effectively with community partners.
  • Capability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficient in computer usage.
  • Demonstrated excellent attendance, punctuality, and work history.
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.

  • Willingness to travel and work at various Osler locations as operationally required.
Additional Information

This position involves working day shifts of 8 hours, including weekends and statutory holidays, subject to operational needs.
