We are seeking a skilled Clinical Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary children's health team at IWK Health. As a Clinical Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing safe and high-quality care to patients admitted with medical illness. This will include direct patient care in the Pediatric Medical Unit (PMU) and consultation with other areas of Children's Health. You will also participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and support PMU education and participation activities.
Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care in the PMU and consultation with other areas of Children's Health
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives
- Support PMU education and participation activities
- Ability to obtain a Clinical Assistant License through CPSNS
- Recent experience and training caring for hospitalized children
- RCPSC Residency training (or equivalent) in General Pediatrics is preferred
- Demonstrated clinical competence and experience in the assessment of clinically deteriorating children
- Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required
- Current PALS certification is an asset
