The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Assistant to join our Pediatric Critical Care team at IWK Health. As a Clinical Assistant, you will work collaboratively with our multi-disciplinary team to provide critical care to patients admitted with critical illness. This role requires strong clinical competence and experience in the assessment of clinically deteriorating children, as well as the ability to obtain a Clinical Assistant License through CPSNS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide critical care to patients in the PICU, working in consultation with other areas of Children's Health
  • Participate in PICU continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Support PICU education and research activities

Requirements:

  • RCPSC Residency training (or equivalent) in General Pediatrics is preferred
  • Successful completion of licensing exam for pediatrics
  • Ability to obtain a Clinical Assistant License through CPSNS
  • Demonstrated clinical competence and experience in the assessment of clinically deteriorating children
  • Current PALS certification
  • Current successful completion of a Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada Basic Life Support Level (BLS) Program within the last 12 months, or successful completion of a BLS Renewal Challenge Certificate, required
