Vice President, Legal Affairs and Risk Management

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vice President, Legal Affairs and Risk Management to join our team at Cowan Insurance Group. As a key member of our Executive Leadership Team, you will be responsible for providing strategic legal advice and guidance on risk management and compliance matters.
Key Responsibilities- Provide legal advice and guidance on investment activities, including fund manager due diligence and compliance.
- Oversee bank and custodian relationships and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Manage legal matters related to owned and leased property, including property law and real estate transactions.
- Lead the development and implementation of information security policies and procedures.
- Manage group P&C insurance coverage, including policy renewal and claims.
- Provide general legal advice on regulatory and legislative matters, including trademark law and corporate policies.
- Assist with due diligence and M&A activities, including reviewing contracts and agreements.
- Call to the Bar in Ontario.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant legal work experience, preferably in-house or at a law firm.
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience simplifying and resolving complex problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a practical solution-oriented approach.
- Demonstrated superior skill in legal drafting, including agreements and contracts.
- Superior organizational and time management skills, with experience handling multiple priorities and requests.
