Director of Inuit Employment and Training

The Department of Inuit Employment and Training plays a crucial role in ensuring that the commitments to full representative levels of Inuit Employment workforces in Nunavut are being effectively and creatively met. Our focus is on ensuring all Federal Government and Government of Nunavut responsibilities are carried out under Article 23 of the Nunavut Agreement.
The incumbent will be responsible for conducting research, analysis, consultations, and preparing policy recommendations related to achieving the objective of Article 23 by the Government of Nunavut and the Government of Canada. This role requires close coordination with other NTI departments and staff to implement the May 4, 2015 Settlement Agreement with the Government of Canada and Nunavut.
The Director of Inuit Employment and Training will oversee the effective management of the Mikigiaqta Inuit Training Corporation and its associated funding as outlined in the 2015 Settlement Agreement. Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and managing complex projects;
- Managing project budgets and financial resources;
- Providing guidance on employee recruitment and planning systems;
- Coordinating with public and private sector hiring practices;
- Mentoring and coaching staff to enhance their skills and knowledge;
- Conducting research and analysis to inform policy decisions;
- Fluency in Inuktut is a definite asset.
