About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at the BC Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS. As a Clinical Psychologist, you will play a key role in providing high-quality psychological services to patients in our primary care clinic.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive psychological assessments of patients, using standardized and evidence-based interview and assessment procedures.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, incorporating psychological assessment results with the broader treatment plan.
  • Provide short-term treatment to patients identified to be at risk for developing chronic disease or in the early stages of chronic disease, focusing on lifestyle cognitive and behavioral modifications.
  • Develop and facilitate group-based treatment programs, addressing topics such as stress management, sleep, medication adherence, and problem-solving.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic and paper patient records, documenting assessment findings, treatment plans, and treatment progress outcomes.
  • Collaborate with medical and mental health providers to ensure comprehensive care for clients requiring a higher level of mental health assessment and treatment.
  • Provide continuing education to physicians and other healthcare providers, increasing community capacity and understanding of behavioral and cognitive contributors to health outcomes.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of psychological treatments and provide recommendations for program development and improvement.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from a recognized and accredited learning institution.
  • Current registration with the College of Psychologists of British Columbia or registration within one year of employment.
  • Two years recent related experience working in primary care or similar settings, including experience working with and leading psychological interventions, consultation, and interdisciplinary team work with chronic health and mental health patients.
