About the Role

Clean Harbors is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Chemical Technician to join our team. As a Chemical Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient handling of hazardous materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety: Ensure that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Preparation and Approval: Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, and manifests, and ensure that all projects are properly prepared and approved before shipment in accordance with regulations and company policies.
  • Inspections and Compliance: Perform inspections of staging, accumulating, and storage areas to ensure proper housekeeping procedures and compliance, and inspect storage areas and drums for leaks or spills.
  • Waste Management: Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
  • Customer Service: Understand customer-specific disposal restrictions and special packaging requirements, and interact with customers on a daily basis.
  • Operational Efficiency: Ensure drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Follow provincial, federal, and local compliance regulations and rules, and safely operate vehicles.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Commercial/Industrial chemical handling experience preferred, with a full (non-GDL) Class 5 Driver's License and a clean Driver's Abstract.
  • Skills and Certifications: Hazardous waste experience is preferred, with Forklift Certification and Safety Tickets (TDG, WHMIS, and First Aid) an asset.
  • Personal Qualities: Attention to detail, ability to take and follow directions, and multi-tasking skills are essential.
