Job Title: Process Chemist

Sialco Materials Ltd., a division of CES Energy Solutions, is seeking a skilled Process Chemist to join our team in Delta, BC.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a knowledgeable and motivated chemist to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. The successful candidate will assume a full-time employment role in the capacity of Process Chemist at our chemical plant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform experiments that support activities in Research & Product Development under general supervision.
  • Run reactions and analyze data in close collaboration with supervisors.
  • Operate scientific equipment, select appropriate methods and techniques to perform experiments (GC, HPLC, IR, Viscometer, KF-titrator, etc.).
  • Plan and organize details of experiments with guidance.
  • Assist in the daily operation of the laboratory, including safety audits, housekeeping and maintenance.
  • Perform quality control tests in accordance with established SOPs and batch sheets to support plant production.
  • Maintain and organize accurate test and inventory records.
  • Assist in the development and refining of testing procedures and methodologies for new and existing processes.
  • Perform QC testing on incoming materials.
  • Demonstrate good verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Work with collaborative communication and problem-solving spirit.
  • Always work with safety in mind.
  • Availability to work on weekends is required.
Qualifications:
  • BSc in Chemistry with 5 years of experience or MSc in Chemistry with a minimum 0-2 years of experience.
  • Experience with following SOPs in an industrial setting.
  • Basic technical and practical knowledge in operation of bench-scale synthetic chemistry and pilot unit operations.
  • Hands-on experience with operating analytical equipment and interpreting results (GC, HPLC, IR, etc.).
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Motivated and adaptable to different working environments.
  • Excellent teamwork skills.
