As part of our innovative Hospital at Home initiative, we are seeking a Nurse Educator to contribute to this transformative program. This service aims to elevate patient outcomes and satisfaction by allowing eligible individuals to receive acute-level care in the comfort of their homes.

Role Responsibilities

In your capacity as a Nurse Educator, you will:

  • Serve as a clinical resource, demonstrating leadership and expertise while facilitating learning among staff.
  • Monitor and assess staff progress against their development plans, adjusting strategies as necessary to ensure success.
  • Implement diverse teaching methodologies aligned with individual growth objectives.
  • Engage in research, quality improvement, and risk management initiatives to enhance clinical practices.
  • Collaborate with community experts and review contemporary literature to stay current in nursing education and practice.
  • Participate in the design and evaluation of educational programs that support nursing practices across the organization.

Common Patient Conditions

The Hospital at Home program addresses various medical conditions, including:

  • Congestive heart failure
  • Pneumonia
  • Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
  • Dehydration
  • Sepsis
  • Cellulitis

Qualifications and Skills

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN, along with three years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Experience in teaching, leadership, and mentoring, with a preference for those who have completed the Educator Pathway.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • A commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to adapt educational strategies to meet evolving needs.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Nurse Educator will be responsible for:

  • Assessing the educational needs of staff and developing tailored training programs.
  • Coordinating and facilitating educational activities to ensure timely and effective learning opportunities.
  • Supporting staff through orientation and ongoing coaching to enhance clinical competencies.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of educational programs and making necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.
  • Documenting educational processes and maintaining accurate records to demonstrate accountability.
