Clinical Education Specialist, Nursing Leadership

Reporting to the Chief Nursing Officer or designated representative, the Clinical Education Specialist serves as a collaborative leader in education and special projects. This position offers expert guidance, consultation, and support to various programs and departments within PHSA, focusing on initiatives aimed at fostering a quality practice environment and promoting excellence in education. Key responsibilities include the development of a comprehensive PHSA Education plan and facilitating the transition to clinical information systems. The incumbent will work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, including educators, operational leaders, and clinical professionals, to:

  • Promote standardization and implement specific initiatives while participating in provincial projects on behalf of PHSA.
  • Develop work plans and supervise project teams.
  • Act as a systems leader and change agent, providing direction for professional and inter-professional education programs aligned with PHSA's strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with discipline leaders and educators to ensure the successful execution of PHSA's education and professional development strategies, utilizing a solid understanding of adult education principles.
  • Lead the creation and sustainability of a vision for inter-professional education across the organization, coordinating the implementation of educational initiatives.
  • Engage in policy development related to the educational implications of clinical informatics, ensuring alignment with the educational needs of the inter-professional team.
  • Support the deployment of organizational strategies, ensuring alignment with PHSA's educational priorities and tracking progress against performance indicators.
  • Oversee a variety of projects aimed at achieving PHSA's operational goals, including collaborative practice education strategies and new technology integration.
  • Design and deliver specialized education programs, including the Educator Pathway, to meet identified priorities.
  • Consult with professional disciplines to ensure educational practices enhance clinical care delivery.
  • Represent PHSA in decision-making forums related to education, research, and quality initiatives.
  • Advise the Chief Nursing Officer on trends and opportunities to advance collaborative education and workforce sustainability.
  • Foster inter-professional dialogue and enhance practice scholarship, promoting opportunities for research and professional presentations.

Qualifications

  • A Master's Degree in a Health Sciences Discipline with a focus on education, complemented by five years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proven ability to design and implement learning assessments, curriculum, and evaluation plans.
  • Strong knowledge of inter-professional collaborative education and effective change management strategies.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and work collaboratively.
